Positions in a Manuscript
The topic statement is used as the title, at the end of the abstract, introduction, toward the end of the results, in the
first paragraph of the discussion, and in the final paragraph of the discussion. In various forms, it should fit nicely
with the topic of each paragraph, so tweak it until it does.
In this diagram, the shapes of the introduction and discussion have pointed ends. This indicates that these are
sharpening or focusing the content, in these cases, upon the Topic Statement. By generating the Topic Statement
before you begin writing, you will make your job easier!
